Heart of a Magpie
Electric Spec, February 2013
Marion moves to Poland to escape her troubles. Only trouble always finds a person. Now she must confront one danger in order to save her daughter and mend broken fences.
This story came about after a visit to Poland. While the setting in the story is threatening, I was fascinated by the people and landscapes that I encountered on my trip.
The picture of a magpie above is from a trip to Waterton Lakes National Park and is of a black-billed magpie, found in western North America. The bird in the story would be one of the very similar Eurasian magpies.
